A lot of people are apprehensive about starting Jiu-Jitsu even though they would really like to give it a try. For obvious reasons the art can seem intimidating to say the least. Most of the people they see practicing are mostly in shape or well on their way top getting there. They may see some tattoo’d folks and some others with deranged cauliflower ear.
This is mostly perception. Most times when you walk into an academy you will be received with smiles and a welcoming warmth.
Instead of speculating over the fear and anxiety of what could go wrong for you at a BJJ class, sit down and check out these videos from others who explain just what to expect.
I guarantee it will take the edge off of your anxiety to start.
In the past you have seen our “Private Sessions” interviews, where we get to know various BJJ players. Now we will also be doing “Private Lessons” (you see what we did there?) videos featuring some of our favorite Jiu Jitsu personalities.
For our fourth installment of Private Lessons we are featuring Coach George McGinnis! Coach George is a friend and frequent guest instructor at my academy (Tony). In this video George teaches us the fundamental Americana or Paintbrush from Side Control. Included are lots of details that perhaps you have not seen before and can put to use! Enjoy! Oss!
Thank you Coach George for the technique!
