Smaller Guy Armbars Bigger Guy In A Snow (Street) Fight

This is probably one of the most civilized street fights, (or snow fights) I have ever seen. These guys have a problem with each other. They fight. One guy taps. The other guy lets go. The problem is solved.

This video shows yet again, how powerful Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is in terms of self-defense and the combat arts.

Jiu Jitsu World League Is Tomorrow!

Jiu Jitsu World League Is Tomorrow!

Jiu Jitsu practitioners from around the world are converging on Irvine, California as you read this. The first ever Jiu Jitsu World League event is tomorrow! Get ready for some exciting Brazilian Jiu Jitsu action! The organization’s founder Master Rigan Machado sees a few problems with today’s sport Jiu Jitsu.

Mr. Machado stated during an interview with that he wanted to professionalize the sport. Basically his idea is that if Jiu Jitsu tournament winners were paid, they would feel less compelled to move onto other sports like MMA, where the athletes are paid. Their website boasts a 12 city tour and $250,000 in prize money to award.

There will also be new rules implemented into the Jiu Jitsu World League. Most noticeably is the situation regarding takedown scoring. In the IBJJF a takedown is worth 2 points. To encourage more takedowns, and less “guard pulling”, takedowns will be divided into two for scoring schedules. “Low takedowns” will be worth 2 points still while “high takedowns” will net 4 points.

Below you will find all of the information you need to know, and that is currently available, about the Jiu Jitsu World League.

See you tomorrow in Irvine! OSS!

Be on the lookout for BJJgirl. She will be there competing and covering the event. Wish her luck!

Here is the most recent interview with Master Machado about tomorrow’s inaugural event.
